Calcutta 64 , a small cafe located near City Centre 1 , Saltlake , Kolkata , sure has a lot of wonders to provide. I noticed this place once I was headed to meet a friend , I immediately looked up it’s menu and was pleased to find that the place was quite affordable. 
Me , being a little skeptical , decided to tread lightly the first day and ordered a Hot Chocolate and a BBQ Chicken Sandwich. To my surprise , not only was the quantity in plenty but it was also quite delicious in the mouth. Seeing what I got for what I actually paid , i was quite happy.
Since then I’ve come here quite often , the place is quite comforting and quiet , though being not too huge. Being located at a relatively silent place made it a pros. for me too.
Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Hot Chocolate
The beverages served here are exceptionally soothing , be it a Hot Chocolate or simply a Chocolate Shake. The others dishes just like this sandwich is marvellous considering what you pay for it. It’s neither over-cooked nor under-cooked , it’s absolutely perfect and you realise it the moment you take a bite.
Chicken BBQ Burger
Just looking at this delicacy , one could tell that this place doesn’t sacrifice when it comes to quality or quantiy. This was not only one of the biggest burgers I paid so less for , but this in itself was so delicious ! The bread was soft and melted in the mouth with every bite. On top of that , the cheese slice and the mayoneese dripping from the sides make it look so beautiful , imagine it being devoured with these soft bread buns.
Unwrapping the Wraps
The Wraps here come in a set of three rather than an usual set of two , the total size remaining the same.
The Smoky Chicken and Cheese Wrap is one of the best wraps that I’ve had in awhile. The cheese blended in the chicken can be understood by just how good it tastes , the chicken itself being well cooked.
The Tandoori Chicken Cheese Wrap , is a the same wrap covering a tandoori grilled chicken blended with cheese. Though I wasn’t a fan of this combo , it still is worth a try , since taste preferences is something that is unique from person to person.
The Pastas
Pastas and Risottos are something that is one of my personal favourites , so I’m very picky when it comes to distinguishing the goods from the bads. But ofcourse , this place doesn’t let me down here either. Every single dish available here , though not many , is well cooked , well presented and an absolute treat to the tastebuds.
The Funghi Pasta is a simple dish cooked in White Sauce and Cheese and this place doesn’t tamper with the recipe , making it simple and delicious. The quantity as always is plenty and there is nothing to complain about.
The Baked Pepper Pasta is where things get interesting. This is much like the Funghi Pasta with a small addition of spice to it. This little amount makes the dish taste a lot different from the former and I’ll always appreciate this positive difference. This dish is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy.
The Peanut BBQ Pasta is also one of the better dishes that I’ve had here. This is cooked in peanut as the name suggests and tastes quite hot and spicy. One could tell that this is different seeing it’s darker brownish colours. Though I’m not a huge fan of spicy dishes , this certainly tastes a lot different from the others and thus is one of the few exceptions.
The Desserts
The range of desserts available here is quite limited , but doesn’t get slacked when it comes to taste. The Brownies and Mousse are definitely worth a try here and I’m pretty eager to try the rest as soon as possible , especially the Caramel Custard.
Conclusion
In conclusion , this place is definitely recommended for a visit. The cafe remains full most of the time , but if you wait for a minute a two , you’ll get a seat for sure.
The ambience is relaxing without any loud music or crowding of people. You can come all by yourself just to work or for a break if not with friends. The staff is also friendly and professional in their work.
